To BEE or not to BEE?

In South Africa Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) is not an option to be lightly considered and then discarded. It is a moral and legislative imperative, as much as it is a common-sense strategic tool for business success and overall economic and social prosperity.

The emergence of a black middle class generates interesting business opportunities for businesses that are able to address the needs of those with increased buying power - leading to the development of a virtuous circle which benefits business, the consumer, the economy and society at large. This means that businesses need to come to grips with the strategic imperative of BBBEE transformation and to weave it into their strategies in order to participate in the growth opportunities.

CGF’s report - BEE as a Strategic Business Imperative - provides guidance to businesses in developing a strategy and measurement for transformation in order to realise the expected benefits of BBBEE. The report enjoys the editorial contribution and peer review of Dr. Robin Woolley (visiting lecturer at the Gordon Institute of Business Science and director of Ownership Solutions), as well as the endorsement of the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA).
