BACKGROUND

  • Commenced in 2002/03 – one day
  • Increased to a week from 2003/04
 

PURPOSE

  • To use economies of scale to focus attention of public on Proudly South African Campaign, purpose, members
  • To empower consumers to be socially responsible
  • To promote a culture of appreciation for buying locally produced products and services
  • Partnership approach
 

OBJECTIVE(S)

  • Increase level of awareness of Proudly South African companies by at least 2% from current levels
  • Increase uptake (buy local) by at least 3 - 5% per annum (from the current benchmark of 30%)
  • Prepare companies’ (at least two per year) products for the export market
  • Create awareness that local consumption has the power to build a strong brand - increase by at least 5% per annum
