Proudly South African shows the country that local is still lekker!

The national Proudly South African "buy local" road-show was hosted at the Maponya Mall, in Soweto on the weekend of 23 and 24 June 2012.

The aim of the country wide road show is primarily to educate consumers about buying local to help stimulate the economy and create jobs.

The Soweto activation was filled with educational messages and entertainment was provided by well-known South African DJ and media personality, DJ Sbu. Audiences were also encouraged to take part in the festivities and competitions with dancers from the mall activation company, ZAG.

The event was well received by consumers who were also educated about the "country of origin label" on all goods sold in South Africa. Consumers are being encouraged to check the labels of all products they buy and ensure their first choice is to buy locally manufactured goods.

Proudly South African member companies – along with local manufacturers and entrepreneurs – had an opportunity to exhibit their products at the mall during the activation, in an effort to show consumers what South Africa has to offer.

Proudly SA has already taken the road show to Mpumalanga, KZN and the Western Cape over recent months. The road show continues till March 2013. Upcoming activations will be held in East London from 13-14 October at the Hemingway Mall; Port Elizabeth, from 20-21 October at the Green Acres Mall and George at the Garden Route Mall from 17-18
November.
